This is a wildly bizarre spanish flick from 1983. It starts with stock footage of bomb tests to imply that the world has been decimated by nuclear war. When the bombings subside, we meet three people along on a volcanic surface. Two men and a woman. Apparently they've lost the ability to speak, or maybe they never had it, because throughout the movie they never speak a word. Only through a series of grunts a growls do they verbalize with each other. Reminds me of Quest For Fire, but maybe that's the point. They've been reduced to the human animals of the title. As the three go along they find a dog who has also survived the blasts and the dog becomes a valuable asset to them. In most scenes I got the impression that the dog was much more intelligent than the humans. In time the two men begin competing with each other for the woman, who takes both of them indiscriminantly. But a love triangle always causes conflict. As the two fight over the woman, she decides to complicate the relationship further by having sex with the dog! Well that's the final straw and the movie concludes with some good old fashioned violence! I know I got your interest now. Any movie where some skank sleeps with a german shepard over two Ron Jeremy's is going to raise a few eyebrows. Look at T3. Check it out.
