I'm sure everybody has seen the elaborate pumpkin carvings that go far beyond the traditional triangle cut faces. But you can actually make your own with a little help from good ol' Photoshop. The procedure is pretty simple and I can outline exactly how to do it if anybody wants to know how. But for now since I'm feeling creative I'm going to make this offer. If anybody has a favorite movie, or more specifically, a favorite shot or pic from a movie, let me have it and I'll convert it to a pumpkin pattern. All you'll need to do is print it out and cut out the pattern with an Exacto knife. Then just tape it to your pumpkin and trace the pattern onto that and then carve away. I'll give you an example of what I'm saying. This is an artist's rendition of what a pattern of my famous mug might look like: As you can see the possibilities are quite endless.

Most frightening Weir-o-lantern... ever.
I only do 'kin carvings once in a blood moon. Last one I had done was 'ween 2000. I done the Pazuzu subliminal frame. I have to ask my bud if he still has a pic of that. It quickly withered within 45 minutes.
How do you go about preserving them for at least one week? Vaseline? I forget.

I'm not sure about preserving them. I suggest getting good quality pics while you can I guess. Now I'll begin posting pics of patterns I'm making. The first one is for Tyr. A Deadly Spawn pumpkin. Each of these will have a pattern so if you like one, PM me and I'll send you the pattern.

And of course no drweir pumpkining would be complete without the mandatory Event Horizon entry. In this case it's a shot of Dr. Weir at the end of the movie when he appears as a rescuer. The pattern was created from a screenshot of the movie. There's a good chance I'll actually make this one myself.

Or if you have a nice tall pumpkin why not shock the kiddies with this delightful image brought to you from Cannibal Holocaust?

Celebrate the surreal film Un Chien Andalou with this creation. Upon finishing this pic I realized that if you want to actually make this one, you might want to make the line that follows the finger under the eye thicker or the structure may collapse. But it looks cool!

Don't forget gourds (sp?) and others of same consistency. The Cannibal Holo would be great on that.

Well today I went ahead and made the Un Chien Andalou pumpkin. I think it turned out pretty goddamn good.

Yes. Yes it did indeed. soooooooooooooooooooooo... How long has it stayed together? I know mine falls apart after 2 hours, especially around the eye region (dehydration).

Well that's why I got some good pics. I took six really good ones to preserve it long after it rots and falls apart. Notice the toothpick holding the fragile middle part together though. I made the line around the finger thicker but it still wasn't strong enough to stand up by itself.
