OK, so Peep Wars is in the bag and getting little response. So here's the dilemma. Do I continue to make these? Because I'm getting the impression I'm getting laughed at rather than laughed with. I seem to have slipped away from my once extreme horror persona and sort of become the king of cute bunnies and chicks. That ain't me. I'd love to do something more disturbing or even scary. Something that leaves you feeling weirded out by the end. Problem is it's a team of one. It's just me. I don't have the friends and funds to make an actual feature. Plus I hate acting. That's why I began making these parodies back in 2002. Because I could make the whole thing by myself for no budget and I could hide behind the camera. I have some cool stories and movie ideas I'd love to unleash on the unsuspecting public. Stuff that would make people gasp and go "Damn, I didn't know ABSIASP did shit like this". So what do you guys think? Are these peeps things really worth continuing or should I find a new way to express my creativity. And if so, how?

As I had mentioned in the Peep War thread, you need to take a break. If you have any friends, get them together. Hide behind the cam and have them act, produce, etc. No budget. Just friends collaborating a lil' short film of perhaps 2-10 minutes. Start off small, use props on-hand and a lot of karo syrup. After a hiatus, that's when you hit them with another Peeps. Switch back and forth. Unless you are in the same predicament as I am and have no friends cuz you have no outside life due to money woes, think of a story, like a narrative (I have ALOT of those) and direct YOURSELF. You say you don't want to act, but who said... you had to act? Be yourself, in a story that is of your emotions. Have your wife help. A narrative suicide, hidden secret, mental illness, you name it. The film is YOU. What ppl hate most is something that leaves a bad taste in their mouth, and why not just have a depressing film that has no levity? No happy beginning, perhaps no happy ending. It's what you see life as being. And one big reason why you are not getting many replies... this isn't CM. You had a big audience there. People dispersed. Hell, I mentioned to Zaerc about what I was d/l'ing last night, and he immediatly jumped on. He loves them. Alot of people love them. It's just a matter of reminding them they still exist. A good thing of you was placing the SBTR addy at the ending. And even tho there is still a big audience that loves these, you still need a break. People need to feel that... uhhh.. how can I put this.... "Oh my gawd, I remember these!" And after a short live action film, you will begin to be asked that pondering question, "When you gonna do another Peep show?"

Thanks for the input. I think part of it is that I am a bit embarassed by the peeps. Being totally honest there. I am a bit more extreme in my head but I get the impression I come off as a jackass. Maybe it's the old inferiority complex bubbling up from my school days. I don't know. I have two friends that are horror heads. The sad part is I seldom see them as they are always working and plus my obligations as a full time dad leaves little time. Maybe what I'll do is another computer based short like my dark faery tale, The Bellman of Briarwood Green. That is a bit more my style. darker, a bit more disturbing. But, yeah, at least for now I'm burnt out on the little sugary bastards. I'll do something else. Thanks for the opinion.

Uh oh....i've come back from my getaway and find the good Dr. is having a crisis of conscience. Perhaps it is time to do something else. You've put out Shaun of the Peeps, The Peeping, Peep Kong and Peep Wars back to back to back to back. Its only natural for burnout and questions of the soul to set in. I don't think we have to think you've gone soft on us though. If you are afraid of being stereotyped like so many ex cast members of a star trek series, do what you were saying. Go back to the roots and make something disgusting. I hear you when you say you have lots of ideas but dont have the resources. I've got tons but getting actors etc..is a problem these days.

Yeah what sucks is for a long time I've had a great idea for a movie shot in my neck of the woods (OK, actually about an hour's drive from here) which is a mockumentary about the gold rush but we end up disturbing the spirits, which are very much alive and true to the area. The way I planned it would make it terrifying. Anyways last night I was chatting online with this messenger buddy and he was talking about a UK movie called Ghostwatch which from what I hear, was like the War of the Worlds radio broadcast. People thought it was real and freaked out. I found that at good ol' PB and will check it out later. Just figures that my "great idea" was already done. No matter. I have other ideas. From what you guys are saying (and Zaerc at T3) I think I will take a temporary break from the little sugar coated bastards and do something a bit different but it seems the fanbase is pretty much set for Peeps so I will return to them after a short hiatus. Meantime Tyr can pick up my slack.

Yes yes... Tyr takes the slack. Hell... you never know, whenever I figure out this damn compression issue I'm having, making I should make ONE Weir Admirer Peep Clip. Knowing me, it'll take 5 years to complete. :rolls eyes

I've got a great story I wrote back in the 90's called Head Games that's pretty fucked up. it's fairly short so I'd like to make that into a movie. Now I just have to figure out with what media. I could do Peeps and that might be cool because this will be an original story. Not a spoof. I'd love to do a live action version of the story but it would be impossible because it takes place at a big occult fair. It's possible I may do a telling of the story the same way I did The Bellman Of Briarwood Green. All computer based imagery with a naration to it.
